EXHIBITION

LOVE, LUST & FREEDOM

Kunstmuseum Brandts, Odense, Denmark

23.3.24 - 5-1.25

THE STORIES OF PHOTOGRAPHY

LOVE, LUST & FREEDOM is the first major Danish-produced exhibition with a focus on photography as a focal point for stories about living authentically as a queer. The artworks tell multifaceted stories that are about caring for yourself as the person you are, standing up for yourself, your desires and your desires and not least fighting for the right to love who you want - and how you want.

Based on historical material, the exhibition will unfold a wide range of both young and established photographers' depictions of queer love life in all its diversity; from touching coming-of-age stories and quiet glimpses of everyday life to poetic accounts of loneliness and dive into underground cultures that cultivate the uncompromising appetite for life and liberation.

The exhibition shows works by, among others: Mengwen Cao, MC Coble & Louise Wolthers, Samet Durgun, Nan Goldin, Marvel Harris, Florian Hetz, Clifford Prince King, Julie Lauerberg, Robert Mapplethorpe, Sven Marquardt, Rafal Milach, George Nebieridze, Niels Nedergaard, Ralf Obergfell, Tero Puha, Laurence Rasti, Mary Steen, Christer Strömholm, Dónal Talbot, Birk Thomassen and Wolfgang Tillmans.

SHORT FILM

ASCENSION

2023

ASCENSION is a new short film by Antonio Urquijo de Simon and Jean-Marc Joseph - produced by Ralf Obergfell.

It tells the story of a brave teenage boy (Jakob Obergfell) who embarks on a journey into the heart of the Great Forest in search of answers.

ASCENSION is a coming-of-age tale about facing the fear of change, learning to observe rather than see, and truly listening rather than simply hearing. It's also a tale of hope in a world that, for many, feels increasingly bleak and in decline.

EUROPEAN MONTH OF PHOTOGRAPHY: Berlin beruehrt: BERLINER IKONEN & HEIM@LOS

Kuenstlerkollektiv TeamWO=H

(Steffi Weiss, Ralf Obergfell, Raidar Huber)

Galerie Strassenfeger 012, Berlin

02-31.03.2023

The Strassenfeger O12 Gallery reacts to the widespread, rapidly progressing change that’s been underway in Berlin for several years with two exhibitions that serve as snapshots in time:

Berlin Icons by Steffi Weiss and Ralf Obergfell is an ‘unheard’ journey of discovery through old Berlin, seen from today’s perspective. These are portraits of the city’s unsung heroes who have been shaping Berlin for decades. They’ve all done their part to make Berlin an exciting, tragic, diverse and tolerant city, attributes that only live on in certain areas today. The exhibition pays homage to this legend.

The project heim@los by Raidar Huber – originally Heimatlos unter Brücken (Homeless Beneath Bridges) – shows the brutal everyday life of rejection homeless people face as they struggle to create a small amount of normality by setting up a temporary place to live. The transformation of a desolate underpass into an organized living space touches us: this is where everyone living indoors can make contact with socially rejected people.
